BIG CO2 Tank Basics (How to Tell if It’s Low, etc)

If there is a bar-wide outage of CO2 and you suspect that the big tank might be low, you can confirm on the big tank by examining the “fill gauge” on top of the tank itself. The fill gauge on the new tank (installed 2024-Oct-09) is pretty self-explanatory and straightforward:

Our big CO2 tank is auto-filled by our vendor on a regular basis, so the tank running low is unlikely.

BIG CO2 Tank Gauges #

The gauges on the Big CO2 Tank indicate:

  • LEFT: Supply Pressure – should be between 120-130 psi – DO NOT ADJUST
  • RIGHT: Tank Pressure – should be between 100-200 psi – IF HIGHER THAN THIS, PLEASE NOTIFY repairs@roundupsaloon.com

Big tank Valves #

The valves on the Big CO2 Tank perform the following functions (see diagram above):

  • Supply Shut-Off Valve: This valve controls CO2 gas flowing TO the Bag-in-Box system. This valve should be turned off ONLY under the following circumstances AND ONLY BY A MANAGER:
    • IF YOU SUSPECT A LEAK in the Bag-In-Box system
    • IF THE BAG-IN-BOX SYSTEM IS CONSTANTLY PUMPING
  • Supply Manifold Shutoff Valve – SHOULD NEVER BE TURNED OFF
  • Fill Shutoff Valve – SHOULD NEVER BE TURNED OFF
